{"id":870,"date":"2022-01-05T03:09:45","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T03:09:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/moshaedonaldlaw.com\/?p=870"},"modified":"2022-01-07T03:13:46","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T03:13:46","slug":"small-cell-technology-makes-its-way-to-prichard-alabama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/moshaedonaldlaw.com\/index.php\/2022\/01\/05\/small-cell-technology-makes-its-way-to-prichard-alabama\/","title":{"rendered":"Small Cell Technology Makes Its Way to Prichard, Alabama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Moshae Donald, Esq. |\u00a0<\/strong><strong>City Attorney \u2022\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Prichard, Alabama<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The spread of 5G wireless technology continues to rip across the country, and finally through Alabama as of May 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2021.\u00a0 On May 1, 2021, the City Council adopted a small cell ordinance for the City of Prichard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What is small cell technology?\u00a0 In short, small cells are wireless transmitters and receivers that provide network coverage to smaller, denser areas and communities.\u00a0 While tall, high-power cell phone towers provide a strong signal across wide distances, small cell technology better suits cities, stadiums and other communities with dense populations over a short area.\u00a0 The ultimate goal of small cell technology is to improve cellular and internet experience for users.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With the incoming 5G network across the United States, small cell technology is critical for boosting internet speeds and providing superior phone connection signal experience.\u00a0 If you have ever driven through a certain area and lost your phone signal, you know what I mean.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What will small cell technology look like in our city?\u00a0 The cells, which are about the size of a small miniature refrigerator or cooler, will be mounted on street lights, utility poles, and other structures.\u00a0 Unlike the huge cell phone towers that we can typically look up and identify, small cell hardware is discrete and energy efficient.\u00a0 This technology should blend seamlessly with the environment.\u00a0 In short, you shouldn\u2019t know it\u2019s there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What does this mean for Prichard?\u00a0 This means a better experience for phone and internet users, and it also means increased revenue for the City.\u00a0 Small cell technology providers must pay a fee(s) to install the technology within our city\u2019s limits.\u00a0 With this increased revenue, the City is able to improve quality of life for you, the citizens: more paved roads, more trained, informed law enforcement and first responders, and better infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are excited about the possibilities for this City of Champions!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Moshae Donald, Esq. |\u00a0City Attorney \u2022\u00a0Prichard, Alabama The spread of 5G wireless technology continues to rip across the country, and finally through Alabama as of May 1st, 2021.\u00a0 On May 1, 2021, the City Council adopted a small cell ordinance for the City of Prichard. &nbsp;
